15 lakh families to get Tk 50,000 worth of free healthcare

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said that under the health protection program, 15 lakh families of six districts will get free health care worth Tk50,000 at government expense.

The minister said the health protection program has been expanded to six districts instead of one.

He made the disclosure during the 'Contemporary Issues Related to Health Services' press briefing at the meeting room of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday afternoon.

Maleque said, “This service will be available in Manikganj, Barisal, Barguna, Laxmipur, Kurigram, Dhaka North and South City Corporation. However, there is a plan to take it to all districts of the country gradually. This is being implemented under Universal Health Coverage.”
