Rampal power plant resumes production

Rampal thermal power plant has resumed production at around 12 midnight on Wednesday after a long month of shutdown. 

Earlier, on January 14, the authorities stopped production at the Rampal thermal power plant due to the coal crisis.

Anwarul Azim, deputy general manager of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), said, "We have been able to start production again from the first unit that was closed. The complications in importing coal have now become somewhat normal."

He also said, "I hope to be able to produce regularly from now on. The second unit is expected to start producing electricity commercially from next June."
