Primary students to get free milk as tiffin

Some 300 government primary school kids will receive free milk every day throughout the year during the "Tiffin" time.

At a ceremony on the grounds of Islamia Government Primary School in the city's Tejgaon suburb, SM Rezaul Karim, minister of fisheries and livestock, formally introduced the "School Milk Program."

The government has adopted the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP), a pilot project that was established by the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry, to deliver milk to public primary schools.

The program will launch right away in 50 schools and progressively spread to additional schools throughout the county this year.

Milk will be given to all first- through fifth-graders in the primary schools chosen by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education in 61 districts during "Tiffin" time.

On days when the schools are open, milk will be given out.
