Prof Ava Hossain inducted as APAO president

Professor Ava Hossain, eminent Bangladeshi ophthalmologist, has been inducted as the President of Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) for the next two years term.

In the 63-year history of the APAO, she became both the first woman ophthalmologist and the first person from Bangladesh to be chosen as President.

During the 38th congress of the APAO, held last week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, departing president Professor Nigli Wang of China passed the reins over to Professor Ava, according to a news release issued Saturday.

The Ophthalmologist power list 2021 previously named Professor Ava among the top 100 most influential female ophthalmologists in the world.
