Dismissal of ACC staff sans showing cause is valid

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) rule on dismissal of an employee without providing a justification is still in effect.

According to Rule 54 (2) of the ACC (Employees) Employment Rules, an employee can be removed from service without assigning any reason. The High Court ruled that the rule was null and void. Now the Appellate Division has annulled the High Court ruling on the rule.

The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui passed the verdict on Thursday, allowing the appeal filed by the ACC against the judgment of the High Court. 

At the same time, the writ filed by Sharif Uddin, the fired deputy assistant director of the ACC, has been declared abandoned.
