Bad weather halted ship movement in St. Martin

Teknaf Upazila administration has stopped the movement of tourist ships on Teknaf-Saint Martin route to avoid accidents due to adverse weather conditions.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamruzaman informed about the suspension of ship traffic at 12 noon on Sunday.

He said, “The sea is rough due to inclement weather. So, no tourist ship from Teknaf was allowed to go to Saint Martin to avoid accidents. Authorities were asked to refud money to the tourists who bought tickets.”

The UNO said that law enforcement agencies have been asked to be vigilant to ensure that tourists staying on the island are not harassed. 

Besides, tourists have been instructed not to go down on the beach.

If the weather conditions are normal, the shipping will start again.

The shipping authorities said that currently more than two to three thousand tourists visit St. Martin by six ships every day from Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Damdamia Ghat.
