Interpol issues red notice against Arav Khan

Interpol has issued a red alert for Rabiul Islam, also known as Arav Khan, the owner of Dubai's Arav Jewellers.
Interpol has received a letter asking for a red notice to be issued against a person mentioned on the charge sheet in a case involving the death of a Bangladeshi police official, Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun had earlier told the media.
Rabiul is listed as Interpol's 63rd wanted Bangladeshi.
Rabiul and nine other people were charged by the police on April 11 in connection with the murder of Mamun Emran Khan, the then inspector of the Special Branch of the police.
According to police, Arav's real name is Rabiul Islam. On July 7 in 2018, police inspector Mamun Emran Khan was murdered in Dhaka.
Now, Rabiul is a billionaire gold trader in Dubai, police added.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action, according to the Interpol's website.
It is based on an arrest warrant or court order issued by the judicial authorities in the requesting country, it added.
Member countries apply their own laws in deciding whether to arrest a person.
