No information on whether Arav Khan is detained in Dubai: IGP

Bangladesh Police said that they have no information on whether Dubai police arrested Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan, the absconding accused in a police murder case.

"We don't have any information on whether Arav is detained there or not," said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Saturday.

He made the comment while responding to a query of journalists after an Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) programme at a hotel in Karwan Bazar.

He said a red notice has been issued against Arav Khan alias Rabiul Islam Apon, the gold trader in Dubai.

Communication with Interpol and Dubai police is still underway in this connection, he added.

The IGP responded, "We are working on it," when asked if there would be an issue bringing Arav back given that he currently holds an Indian passport.

A charge sheet against 10 people, including Arav alias Rabiul, was filed by the detective branch of the police on April 11th, 2019, in relation to the murder of Mamun Imran Khan, the then inspector of special branch of the police.
