49 arrested in DMP's anti-narcotics drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 49 persons for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs.

On information, the DMP’s police and detective units conducted the anti-drug campaign in the city’s various areas in the last 24 hours till 6 am Monday.

They seized drugs and arrested drug sellers and abusers, said a DMP statement on Monday.

Police seized 776 pieces of Yaba tablets, 45gm of heroin, 15.45kg hemp and 13 bottles of phensedyl, from their possessions, the statement added. 

According to the statement, a total of 32 cases have been filed against the arrestees under the Narcotics Control Act.
