Journalist Shamsuzzaman arrested as he was sued: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said journalist Shamsuzzaman of The Daily Prothom Alo working in Savar has been arrested as a case has been lodged against him.

The minister made the disclosure in response to questions from reporters at the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Shamsuzzaman was picked up from his house by the personnel of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Asaduzzaman Khan said, “Law moves at its own pace. Everything, including the state, is operated according to law. If someone is aggrieved and wants justice, the police can only take action by filing a case. So far, I came to know that a case has been registered in this incident.”

While asked who filed the case, the Home Minister said, "I have not received all the reports. When I will be clear, I will tell you the fact.”
