PM inquiring into incident of Bangabazar fire

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is keeping a comprehensive inquiry into the incident of fire in the capital’s Bangabazar. 

The premier is also coordinating the overall activities including fire control, Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Zahid Tushar told the media.

A devastating fire has broken out at Bangabazar market in the capital on Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported at 6:15am, Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Rafi Al Faruq told The Daily Samkal.

A total of 50 units of fire service are working to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.

No casualties have been reported so far.

According to the ISPR, a joint support team of the Bangladesh Army and a support team of the Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy are working to control the fire in Bangabazar.

The fire in Bangabazar has spread to the adjacent building Annexco Tower.

Water is being sprinkled from helicopters of Air Force to tame the massive fire.

Meanwhile, after getting the news of the fire, the traders of the market reached the spot and tried to take out the goods from the shops. 

However, it is very difficult to move the goods due to the smoke of the fire.
