Poverty rate drops to 18.7 per cent

In Bangladesh, the poverty rate has dropped to 18.7 per cent while the extreme poverty rate stood at 5.6 per cent.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) made the disclosure on Wednesday by releasing the latest "Household Income and Expenditure Survey - 2022".

In 2016’s survey, the poverty rate was 24.3 per cent and the extreme poverty rate was 12.9 per cent.
