Mild, moderate heat wave likely to continue

Bangladesh Metrology Department on Thursday forecast that a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the country and it may further continue.

Weather forecast valid for the next 24 hours beginning from 9am this morning said mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and it may continue.

Even the weather may remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, it said, adding that day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.

West Bengal and the surrounding region are covered by the Trough of lows. South Bay is in a seasonal trough.

The highest temperature ever recorded in the nation was 39.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday at Chuadanga, while today's lowest temperature was 18.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia. Over the past 24 hours, there has been no rain in any part of the nation.
