Mangal Shobhajatra 1430 brought out at DU

Mangal Shobhajatra was brought out by the faculty of fine art of Dhaka University (DU) to usher in the Bangla year 1430 on Friday morning.

"Borisho dhora majhe shantiro bari," a line from a famous Rabindra Sangeet, is the theme of this year's procession.

Around 9:00am, the procession began at the Charukola premises and ended around 9:30am after parading Shahbagh area.

Among others, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman, and DU Fine Art Dean Professor Nisar Hossain participated in the procession.

Besides teachers, students and people from all walks of life participated in the joyous and colourful procession.

Teachers and students of the fine art faculty of DU have been organising Mangal Shobhajatra to welcome the Bangla new year since 1989.
