4 killed in bus-truck collision on Bangabandhu Expressway

Four people were killed and at least 15 injured in a bus-truck collision on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Sholghar area of Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj on Thursday morning.

The casualties were not immediately identified.

Munshiganj District Additional Superintendent of Police Yasina Ferdous said that there was a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Sholghar area of Srinagar, leaving two people dead on the spot. 

Later, two more people died in the local hospital and on the way to Dhaka, he added.

However, the police officer immediately reported the death of seven people.

The bodies were recovered from the spot, said In-Charge of Hasara Highway Police Outpost Zakir Hossain, adding that 10 injured people were admitted to Dhaka and local hospitals.

The accident caused a long traffic jam on the southern end of the highway, said Zakir Hossain, adding that the police are trying to ease the traffic congestion.
