GCC mayoral candidate Zahangir's nomination cancelled

The nomination paper of Mohammad Zahangir Alam, the independent candidate for the post of mayor of Gazipur City Corporation, has been cancelled.

Md Faridul Islam, the returning officer of the election, announced the decision after scrutinization of the mayor candidates' nominations at Bangataj Auditorium in the city on Sunday morning.

“Zahangir Alam is a loan defaulter as a guarantor,” he disclosed the cause of cancellation of nomination paper.

However, the nomination paper of Zaida Khatun, mother of Zahangir Alam, has been declared valid.

In his instant reaction, Zahangir told the journalists that he will appeal to the EC against the cancellation of his nomination paper.

He claimed that he did not get justice.
