Mother of Dipu Moni passes away

Rahima Wadud, mother of Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, has passed away at her residence at Kalabagan in the city on Saturday.

She was 98.

Rahima breathed her last at her residence in the city's Kalabagan area, education ministry's public relation officer MA Khayer told reporters. 

Rahima, wife of Language Movement hero and Bangabandhu's close associate late MA Wadud, has been suffering from various old-age complications.

She left behind a son, one daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.

Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Rahima Wadud. 

In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
