Narayanganj steel mill blast: Death toll rises to 6

One more worker died after being injured in an explosion that took place at a steel mill in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj taking the toll to 6.

Jewel, 36, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).

Ayub Hossain, a resident surgeon at the burn institute, said the victim suffered 95 per cent burns.

The explosion took place on Thursday when workers were melting iron at the re-rolling mill. Seven workers were injured in the explosion, of whom six have already succumbed. The bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Only one worker, Md Ibrahim who sustained 28 per cent burns, is still under treatment at the burn institute.
