Low-pressure formed over Bay of Bengal

A low-pressure area has formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea.

It is likely to intensify into a depression, said the met office.

Meanwhile, a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the country, and it may continue and spread, read a met office release on Monday.

"A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalgonj, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Moulvibazar, Chattogram, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, Noakhali and Bandarban and it may continue and spread", said the release.

The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country as day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and the adjoining area.

The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 39.2 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga while the minimum one was 21.2 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The sun sets at 06:31pm on Monday and rises at 05:19am on Tuesday in the capital.
