Gazipur college student murder: Suspect Saidul arrested

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a man from Tangail's Bhuapur Upazila over hacking a college girl to death and injuring four of her family members.

The Legal and Media Wing of RAB Headquarters confirmed the matter to The Daily Samakal on Wednesday night.

Arrestee Saidul Islam entered the home of the victim Rabeya Akhtar on Monday night and stabbed her to death. Her mother and three sisters were also stabbed when they tried to stop the assailant. Later, Saidul fled the scene.

The victim's father filed a case against Saidul with the Gazipur Sadar Police Station following the incident. Rabeya's mother is now receiving treatment at a hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Saidul, a house tutor, proposed to marry Rabeya but her family refused. However, he kept trying to persuade her but failed.
