Mocha is now ‘very severe cyclonic storm’

The severe cyclonic storm "Mocha" over southeast bay and adjoining central bay moved northwards and intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm over central bay and adjoining southeast bay, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department bulletin No 10.

And it was centred at 06 am Friday about 1095 kms south-southwest of Chattogram port, 1025 kms south-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1085 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 1055 kms south-southwest of Payra port. 

It is likely to intensify further and move north-northeastwards.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 74 km of the severe. Cyclone centre is about 120 kph rising to 140 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain high near the severe cyclone centre.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal number two.

All fishing boats and trawllers over north bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
