Titas proposes fresh household gas price hike

Amid the ongoing gas crisis in Bangladesh, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company has proposed to increase the price of household gas.

If the proposal is approved, fixed price subscribers would have to spend Tk 1,379 for single burner and Tk1,591 for double burner stoves.

The prices are currently Tk 990 and Tk 1080, respectively.

Titas sent its proposal to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on May 2.

In this proposal, the gas distributor claimed that residential sector fixed-price subscribers use more gas than the allocated limit set by the BERC.

Titas has proposed redetermination of fixed price subscribers' monthly gas consumption limit to 76.65 and 88.44 cubic metres against single burner stoves and double burner stoves, respectively.
