Rampal plant resumes power generation after 23 days

The 1st unit of Rampal 1320 MW Power Plant resumed its operation on Tuesday night after 23 days of closure due to coal shortage.

Anwarul Azim, deputy general manager of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), also known as Rampal Power Plant, said, "The plant started electricity generation after a consignment of coal from Indonesia arrived."

"Electricity from the first unit was successfully synchronised with the national grid at 9pm on Tuesday. 260 MW of electricity is being generated and fed to the grid. Power generation will be gradually increased as per the demand of National Load Dispatch Center (NLDC)."
