ACC summons former GCC mayor Zahangir

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Zahangir Alam.

Zahangir was asked to appear before the ACC on May 20 and 21, according to a source at the ACC.

Confirming the matter, Zahangir said he will take a decision after talking to his lawyer.

Zahangir Alam submitted nomination papers for the GCC polls, which were rejected by the returning officer on April 30, citing that the former GCC mayor was a loan-defaulter. To get back candidacy, Zahangir filed a writ, but it was dismissed by the High Court. 

He was permanently expelled from the Awami League on May 15.
