Derailment in Lawacchara: 5-member probe body formed

A five-member probe body will investigate the derailment of the Sylhet-bound Udoyon Express train at Lawachhara on Saturday morning.

The train schedule of Sylhet remained disrupted even after 14 hours passed since the incident.

Sylhet's Bhanugach station master Kabir Ahmed said repairing of the tracks may be finished around 7:30pm, but it is not certain.

Four trains were cancelled on the Dhaka-Sylhet route following the derailment. Confirming the matter, Kulaura Junction railway station master Roman Ahmed the passengers of the four cancelled trains were notified and they will get their money back.

Two compartments and the engine of a Sylhet-bound train derailed at Lawachhara in Moulvibazar on Saturday morning, snapping Sylhet's rail communication with the rest of the country.

The Udoyon Express veered off the tracks at around 5am when it was hit by a falling tree.
