829 Hajj pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia

A total of 829 hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh reached Saudi Arabia by two flights on Sunday to perform the holy Hajj this year.

At 7:20am (Saudi Arabia time), the first flight carrying 414 pilgrims touched down at King Abdulaziz International Airport, also known as Jeddah International Airport, in Jeddah. The second flight, carrying the remaining 415 passengers, arrived at roughly 11.30am.

Mohammad Javed Patwary, the ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, presented flowers to each of these pilgrims from Bangladesh as they arrived at the airport in Jeddah.

Dr. Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, the Saudi Arabian deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah, also welcomed them. 

A total of 122,221 pilgrims from Bangladesh will perform the hajj this year. 

Some 61,111 of them will travel with Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and the other passengers will take Saudia or Flynas.

The Hajj is likely to be held on June 27 depending on the sighting of the moon.
