Education ministry orders dismissal of 678 teachers

The government has dismissed the jobs of 678 teachers working at several educational institutes for submitting fake documents during their recruitments.

This decision was taken on May 18 but revealed on Tuesday.

The Education Ministry's Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) had investigated and singled out 1,577 teachers for allegedly forging documents. Out of them, 678 would be dismissed, it said.

These teachers have already drawn nearly Tk 26.5 crore from the government exchequer.

The ministry ordered the teachers to send the money back. It also said cases will be filed against those involved in the incident.
