RUET acting VC resigns

Professor Sajjad Hossain, acting vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), has resigned in response to the teachers' demand.

On Sunday night, Sajjad Hossain announced that he had resigned.

"I have resigned in accordance with the demands and protests of the teachers," he said.

Eighty faculty members from the engineering university occupied the vice chancellor's office from 11am to 9pm on Sunday and demanded their regular promotions as well as the immediate resignation of the vice chancellor in place.
