List of products whose prices will fluctuate

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has placed the proposed Tk 7.61 lakh crore national budget for 2023-24 fiscal year at Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.

The minister has proposed changing the duties on a number of products, which might result in an increase or decrease in the price of those goods.

The prices of the following items were proposed to go up:

• Buy to new bicycles

• Cashew nut sees crunch

• Cement costlier

• Cigarettes soar

• Dates too decadent

• E-cigarettes choke more

• Elevators only elevate

• Escalators going up

• Flat price higher due to gains tax

• Gold gets ghastly

• Land now costs more

• Less bang for buck for beverages

• Locally-made mobile phones

• LPG cylinder heats up

• Microwave oven burns more

• Pens reach pricier point

• Plastic kitchenware, tableware

• Software (imported) to drain wallets

• Spectacles (glass) see hikes

The prices of the following items were proposed to go down:

• Cake to bake easier

• Handmade biscuits get boost

• Imported agricultural machinery

• Imported airplane parts

• Imported fish, poultry feed

• Less squeeze for locally-made juicer

• Locally-made cancer, diabetes medicines

• Pesticide more economical

• Raw material for diaper

• Raw material for sanitary napkins

• Raw material for shampoo

• Raw material for soap

• Spray machine

• Sweets get sweeter
