Tk 100 crore proposed for skill development of youth and women

The government of Bangladesh plans to include a special Tk 100 crore allocation in the national budget for 2023–2024 fiscal year to assist the growth of the nation's women and youth's professional skill sets, according to Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

Kamal said a total of 80,000 young people would receive training in cutting-edge technology and skill development from research and innovation centres of various local universities.

"We are creating an infrastructure and providing facilities suitable for startups and entrepreneurship development," he stated.

As a result, a special Tk 100 crore budgetary allocation for research, innovation, and the advancement of Bangladesh's women and youth has been suggested for the 2023–24 fiscal year.

This new initiative, according to the Finance Minister during the presentation at the parliament, intends to create a workforce made up of young people that is knowledgeable, efficient, and prepared to tackle challenges in the future. 

In order to boost industry sector innovation and worldwide competitiveness, the government plans to keep focusing on medium to high level skill development initiatives, starting with basic skills.

Kamal has placed the proposed Tk 7.61 lakh crore national budget for 2023-24 fiscal year at Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday afternoon.
