Bangladeshi youth shot dead by BSF

A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Kalirhat border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

The incident happened at sub-pillar-13 of the main pillar-857 of the border on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali, 25, son of Shah Jamal of Meserdanga village of Jagatber union of the upazila.

According to the locals, a group of Bangladeshis entered India along the main pillar-857 of the border when  BSF troops opened fire on them, leaving Yusuf dead on the spot. India's Mekhliganj Police Station recovered the body and took it into custody.

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Musahid Masum, commander at the Rangpur BGB-61, confirmed the incident saying that preparations are ongoing for a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Security Forces (BSF) in this regard.
