5 burned in Wari fire, FSCD says to avoid lighting stoves, cigarettes

A fire which broke out on a gas pipe at Tipu Sultan Road of Wari in Dhaka has burned five people on Wednesday.

The victims were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) in the city.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) was notified of the fire at around 2:25am. On information, six firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at around 5:30am, according to FSCD control room duty officer Ershad Hossain.

The injured individuals are Helal, Mamun, Rashid, Sohel, and Enamul, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Mia said.

Inhabitants of the area were asked not to light stoves or cigarettes till further notice, the FSCD said.
