Rechargeable fan explodes, burns 5 of a family in Narayanganj

Five members of a family, including a child, sustained burn injuries when a rechargeable fan exploded in their house in the Fatullah area of Narayanganj.

The victims are Md Salam Mondol, 55, Bulbuli Begum, 40, Sonia Akhtar, 27, Tutul, 25, and Mehezabin, 7.

This incident happened around 8am on Friday, after which local people rescued the victims and brought them to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS), said Sohag, one of the locals.

Confirming the incident, SHNIBPS Resident Surgeon Dr Md Tariqul Islam said almost all of the victims were in critical condition.

Md Salam Mondol sustained 70 per cent burn, Bulbuli 25 per cent, Sonia 42 per cent, Tutul 60 per cent, and Mehezabin 35 per cent, the doctor said.

Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, also confirmed the matter.
