Once-abandoned well adds 8MMCFD gas to national grid

Gas supply to the national grid from well-24 of Titas gas field in Brahmanbaria has started again.

The once-abandoned well under Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) started supplying 8 MMCFD (Million standard cubic feet per day) gas at 11am on Friday, said Md Shoeb, managing director of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX).

BAPEX, the state-owned company, conducted a workover of the abandoned well, which was completed in 45 days. The well was first dug during the fiscal year 2016-17 by China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec).

Regarding the matter, a post on State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid's verified Facebook page reads, "Today (Friday) Titas-24 number well has started supplying 8MMCFD gas to the national grid."
