Serajul Alam Khan's first namaz-e-janaza held

The first namaz-e-janaza of Serajul Alam Khan, one of the organisers of the Liberation War, was held at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital at 10am on Saturday.

His body will be taken to his ancestral home of Alipur village under Begumganj in Noakhali. After the second janaza, Serajul Alam Khan will be buried next to the grave of his mother at his family graveyard there.

A notable founder of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD), Serajul Alam Khan died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday. He was 82.

He was put on life support on Thursday night. He was taken off life support at around 2:30pm on Friday. His niece Barrister Farah Khan confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal.

Serajul Alam Khan had been suffering from various health complications for a long time. On May 7, he was admitted to Samorita Hospital in Panthapath in the capital due to respiratory illness. He was transferred to the DMCH on May 20.

His condition deteriorated on June 1, when he was admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU).
