Bodies of woman, daughter recovered in Badda, husband detained

Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter from a hospital in Dhaka's Badda area early on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Akhtar Brishty, 33, and her daughter Sanza Marwa, 10. Police also detained Mahmuda's husband Selim in this connection.

Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector Sadek Hossain confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal.

The SI said, family members took Mahmuda and Sanza to the Banasree Farazy Hospital in critical condition on Tuesday night. On information, police recovered their bodies and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue early on Wednesday.

Selim claimed the mother-daughter duo committed suicide by ingesting poison. However, doctors have not found any traces of poisoning. Primarily, it is suspected that they were strangled to death. Selim was detained based on complaints from Mahmuda's family, SI Sadek added.
