DSCC to conduct mobile courts from June 18

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will start operating mobile courts from June 18 in an effort to get rid of Aedes mosquitoes and stem the spread of dengue fever in the city.

Mizanur Rahman, the chief executive officer of the DSCC, gave the executive magistrates instructions on a number of issues pertaining to the fight against dengue disease, according to an official notice issued on Thursday.

He asserted, "A proven strategy to prevent the dengue disease is to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding places.”

To eliminate the Aedes mosquito's breeding grounds, mobile tribunals will be operated in accordance with the law, said Nizanur.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued comprehensive guidelines on infection prevention in light of the significant increase in dengue cases this year.

Data from the DGHS show that the dengue infection increased five times between January 1 and May 31 of this year.

The DGHS has advised keeping homes both inside and out clean and getting rid of any potential Aedes mosquito breeding grounds in order to stop an outbreak of the disease.
