Heavy rainfall: BMD issues warning for 3 divisions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

"Under the influence of active monsoon heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (89mm or more) rainfall is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," reads the BMD bulletin.

This warning is valid for 48 hours, commencing at 3pm Wednesday.

The BMD also issued a warning for inland riverports in nine districts on Thursday, which reads, "In association with rain or thunder showers temporary South or South-Easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60kph is likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mymensingh and Sylhet wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal no One.

This warning will be valid till 6pm, commencing at 9:30am on Thursday.

"Light to moderate rain on thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur division; at many places over Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," the regular BMD weather bulletin reads.

Day temperature may rise slightly over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said the weather bulletin valid for 24 hours, commencing at 9am on Thursday.
