Dhaka ranked 7th least liveable city

Dhaka was listed as the sixth least livable city in the world in the Global Liveability Index for 2023.

The annual global report was released on Wednesday by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a subsidiary of The Economist.

In the study, 173 cities from around the world were evaluated by the EIU on more than 30 qualitative and quantitative factors in five main categories: infrastructure, stability, education, culture and environment, and healthcare.

Dhaka improved to 166th rank with a score of 43.8. It is therefore the seventh least habitable city this year. Both Harare, Zimbabwe, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, are contiguous with the area.

In 2022, Dhaka was ranked seventh out of 173 cities for least livability. Its liveability score was 39.2 points in 2022, nonetheless.

Vienna of Austria once again leads the list of most livable cities with 98.4 points. Malborne of Australia, and Copenhagen of Denmark are ranked second and third respectively.

Port Moresby of Papua New Guinea, Karachi of Pakistan, Lagos of Nigeria, Algiers of Algeria, Tripoli of Libya, and Damascus of Syria are the six cities worse than Dhaka in terms of Liveability with Syria being the worst among the total 173 cities.
