Interference in a country's internal affairs inappropriate: Chinese Ambassador

Yao Wen, China's ambassador to Bangladesh, said that according to international norms and the UN Charter, it is inappropriate for other countries to interfere in the internal affairs of any country.

Appreciating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's strong leadership, he said, China always respects the way Sheikh Hasina is taking her country forward in the fight against hegemony.

On Thursday, the Chinese envoy made the comments during a courtesy meeting with Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Tajul Islam at the ministry, said a press release of the ministry.

During the meeting, Chinese diplomat Yao Wen praised the economic development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Referring to the progress that has been made in the socio-economic development of the country in the past, the Chinese envoy said that the progress of Bangladesh as an Asian country is an example of inspiration for other Asian countries.

China wants to be a reliable partner in this progress of Bangladesh, the diplomat continued.
