Eid journey: Road accidents claim 299 lives

A total of 299 people were killed and 544 injured in 277 road accidents across the country within 15 days of Eid journey, according to a report of the Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS).

The BJKS revealed this report through a press conference at the Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association in Dhaka on Saturday.

This report was prepared based on data obtained from June 22 to July 6. 41 more people were killed in waterway and railway accidents. Among the deceased, 47 were women and 25 were children.

In the last few years, most accidents were motorbike accidents, the BJKS said. However, the situation changed this year. The report found that the prevalence of trucks, pickup vans and covered vans increased this year.
