37,133 tonnes coal arrives for Payra power plant

A ship carrying 37,133 tonnes of coal for the Payra thermal power plant has arrived at Payra port.

The vessel named MV Sagar Kanta reached the port’s outer anchorage on Monday night. It was piloted to the inner anchorage on Tuesday morning.

Sources at the post said this is the fifth vessel which brought a shipment of coal since the plant's closure on May 25.

Confirming the matter, Azizur Rahman, deputy director of Payra port's traffic department, said the flag bearer of Singapore departed from Indonesia's Balikpapan City a week ago. After unloading 5,000 tonnes of coal, the vessel will be piloted to the power plant's jetty, where the rest of the coal will be unloaded.
