Gautam Adani calls on PM

Gautam Adani, chairman of India's Adani Electricity, met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday and announced full load commencement and handover of the Ultra Super Critical Godda Power Plant.

In a tweet, the billionaire businessman running Adani Group expressed his thanks to the PM.

His tweet reads, "Honoured to have met Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on full load commencement and handover of the 1600 MW Ultra Super Critical Godda Power Plant.

"I salute the dedicated teams from India and Bangladesh who braved Covid to commission the plant in the record time of three-and-a-half years."

According to sources at the Power Division, Gautam Adani reached Dhaka at around 10am on Saturday. He called on the PM at around 11am, and left the capital at around 1:15pm.

Adani Group set up the 1,600MW power plant in Jharkhand's Godda exclusively to supply its entire electricity to Bangladesh under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) on an unsolicited basis with the BPDB.
