Fugitive arrested 22 years after murdering husband

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive convict, 22 years after she murdered her husband, from the Adabor area of Dhaka.

The arrestee Dolly Begum, 42, was detained on Saturday night, Md Rafiqul Islam, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and RAB-5 Company Commander confirmed The Daily Samakal.

According to case statement, Rafiqul said Dolly was married to Panchbibi Upazila's Abul Hossain. Domestic disputes were common between the couple. Meanwhile, Dolly started an extra-marital affairs with Mostafizur Rahman, a convict with a life sentence. After Abul Hossain found out about the affair, Dolly planned to murder him.

On September 28, 2001, several people, including Dolly and Mostafizur, strangled Abul to death and escaped the scene. Police recovered the body the next day.

Abul's father filed a case in this regard with the Panchbibi Police Station. A court in Joupurhat sentenced four people, including Dolly, to life imprisonment over the murder.
