Deal signed to utilise electricity in railways

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan Sunday said electricity will be used in railways to modernize the railway communication system.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various efforts to transform the Bangladesh Railway system into a modern, sustainable, and eco-friendly mode of transportation," he said.

The minister said these as the chief guest at the agreement signing ceremony between Bangladesh Railway and Tumas Turkish Engineering Consulting and Constructing Company in the meeting room of Railway Building here, said a press release.

Expressing optimism, he said that the company would complete the work of introduction of electric traction of Narayanganj-Dhaka-Chittagong and Tongi-Joydebpur within the specified time.

Chief Electrical Engineer (East) Md Habibur Rahman on behalf of Bangladesh Railway and Tumas Turki Engineering Consulting and Constructing Company's Ismail Heydarli signed the agreement.
