Police searching for 15 more attackers

Police are conducting a drive to detain 15 more people allegedly involved in the violent assault on independent candidate Ashraful Alam alias Hero Alam during the voting in the Dhaka-17 constituency by-election on Monday.

Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mostafizur Rahman said, "We have information that 15 more people were involved in the attack on Hero Alam. The attackers taken to remand have disclosed information about others after interrogation. A drive is going on to detain them."

The attack was carried out on Hero Alam in front of the Banani Bidyaniketan School and College. He was later admitted to a hospital in Rampura.

Hero Alam's personal assistant Sujan Rahman Shuvo filed a case with the Banani Police Station against 15-20 unnamed people in this connection.

On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) detained seven people - Sanoar Kazi, Biplab Hossain, Mehedi, Mojahid, Ashik, Hridoy, and Syed Mollah. Among them, Sanoar Kazi and Biplab Hossain were taken to remand.
