4 Pirojpur Razakars sentenced to death

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced four war criminals to death for comitting crimes against humanity in Pirojpur district during the Liberation War in 1971.

An ICT bench led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam pronounced the judgement at around 11:15am on Thursday.

Confirming the matter to The Daily Samakal, Tribunal prosecutor Saidur Rahman said, "The convicts were given capital punishment as they were found guilty on all four charges framed against them.

The four death-row convicts are Abdul Mannan Howlader, Ashraf Ali Howlader, Moharaj Howlader, and the fugitive Nurul Amin Howlader. They carried out atrocities such as mass killings, arsons and tortures at the Posharibunia village of Bhandaria upazila under the Pirojpur district in 1971.

He also said three of the four condemned convicts were present at the court. An arrest warrant has been issued against fugitive Nurul Amin Howlader.
