Jubo League man hacked to death in Shahjahanpur

A Bangladesh Jubo League member, the youth arm of the ruling Awami League, has been fatally hacked to death in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur area on Thursday night.

The victim, Waliullah Rubel, 36, lived on Joardar Lane with his family.

According to Shahjahanpur Police Station OC Farukul Alam, Rubel was brutally attacked by a group of miscreants while he was returning home from Rajarbagh. 

On information, Rubel's family took him to the Islami Bank Hospital. He was then shifted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead. 

Rubel actively participated in Jubo League politics. He ran an internet and egg business.

Farukul Alam added that Rubel had stab wounds on his head, arms, shoulder, and legs.

Tanzina Dewan, Rubel's wife, is a member of the Central Mohila Awami League.

Police are looking into the attack's motivations and trying to identify those responsible, the OC continued.
