Citizens' data leaked due to technical glitch

The main cause of the leakage of residents' data was technical flaws in the involved organization's web applications, according to a report on the investigation.

The report's conclusions showed that there wasn't enough staff with the right technical skills to properly monitor the web applications.

According to a news release, the information was discussed at a review meeting of the report submitted by the investigation committee formed in response to the breach of citizens' data. 

State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the meeting.

ICT Division Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin, ICT Department Director Md Mostafa Kamal, and Director General of the Digital Security Agency Abu Sayed Md Kamruzzaman were present in the meeting, among others.

Under the condition that the complete VAPT report of the relevant organization's web application was received, it was advised in the report that the appropriate steps be taken to fix all of the faults.

The investigation body emphasized the need of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Software Quality Testing and Certification Center (SQTC), and BNDA members of BCC testing the software architecture of the current web application.
