16 people die of dengue in a day

Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne illness, has claimed the lives of 16 people during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Tuesday. 

A total of 2,418 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in the country in the same time, said Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It also said that some 1,162 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city and 1,256 were admitted to different hospitals across the country. 

So far, 201 people died of dengue disease this year while the number of deaths was 281 in the last year, according to DGHS.

As of today, the total number of patients rose to 37,688.
